Why I Don’t Put a Hard Limit on the Number of Photos in Your Gallery
One question I get asked pretty often is, “How many photos will I get back?”
And my answer is usually: I don’t put a hard number on it.
That can sound a little different from what some photographers offer, but there is a reason behind it. I would rather deliver all of the usable, professionally edited images that help tell the story of your session than stop at an arbitrary number just because a package says “50 photos.”
Every Session Is Different
No two sessions are exactly the same.
A 30-minute couples session may naturally produce more variety than another 30-minute session. A wedding with a lot of family members, traditions, dancing, and candid moments may result in a much larger gallery than a smaller, quieter wedding.
Trying to force every session into the exact same photo count just does not make much sense to me.
Instead, I focus on what was actually captured.
If an image is technically sound, flattering, meaningful, and adds something to your gallery, I want you to have it.
I Still Curate Your Gallery
Not having a hard image limit does not mean I upload every single photo I take.
During a session or wedding, I may take multiple versions of the same moment. Someone may blink, a photo may be out of focus, someone may walk through the background, or I may take several nearly identical images to make sure I get the best one.
Afterward, I go through everything and select the strongest photographs.
You receive the images that are worth keeping, not hundreds of unnecessary duplicates just to make the final number look bigger.
Your Gallery Should Tell the Full Story
This is especially important with weddings.
A wedding day is made up of so many little moments that may not seem significant while they are happening.
A parent helping with a dress.
Your grandparents dancing.
Your best friend laughing during a speech.
A flower girl spinning around the dance floor.
A quiet moment between the two of you when nobody else is paying attention.
Those may not have been photographs you specifically requested, but they can easily become some of the most meaningful images in your gallery.
I never want to reach a certain number and decide that everything after that does not get delivered.
Quality Still Comes First
More photos does not automatically mean a better gallery.
I would rather give you a carefully edited collection of strong photographs than fill your gallery with repetitive or unnecessary images.
Every final image is selected and professionally edited before it is delivered through your online gallery.
The exact number can vary depending on the session, length of coverage, number of people involved, location, activities, and how much is happening throughout the day.
What You Can Expect From Goswick Photography
When you book with me, your package is based primarily on the amount of photography coverage you are receiving rather than purchasing a certain number of finished photographs.
Once your session is complete, I go through the images and deliver all of the usable photographs that meet my final gallery standards.
That means you are not sitting there wondering which 20 or 50 photographs made the cut simply because of a number written into a package.
If the photo helps tell your story and it belongs in your gallery, I want you to have it.
At the end of the day, these photographs are meant to preserve your memories — and I do not believe your memories should have an arbitrary limit.
