My Dream Wedding Venues to Photograph in Texas

As a wedding photographer, I’m constantly coming across venues that make me stop scrolling and immediately think, *I need to photograph a wedding there someday.*

Some make the list because of the scenery. Some have incredible portrait locations. Others just fit the kind of natural, romantic wedding photography I love creating.

But a couple of these are a little more personal.

So, here are some of the wedding venues currently sitting at the top of my dream list — starting with the two I would personally choose for myself.

#1 — At The Shire | Huntsville, Texas

At The Shire is easily at the very top of my list.

And this one is more than just a venue I want to photograph — At The Shire is my personal dream wedding venue.

I have always been drawn to weddings that feel intimate, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, and The Shire fits that perfectly. The trees, wooded atmosphere, outdoor setting, and overall feel of the venue are exactly what I picture when I think about my ideal wedding.

From a photography standpoint, it also has so much potential.

I can already picture portraits surrounded by the trees, wide ceremony shots that really capture the setting, golden-hour photos throughout the property, and nighttime images with all the lights creating that warm, romantic atmosphere.

There are certain venues where you can immediately start imagining the photographs before you ever step foot on the property, and this is absolutely one of those places for me.

So yes — if an inquiry for an At The Shire wedding ever lands in my inbox, there may be a little extra excitement on my end.

#2 — Redwick’s Wedding in the Woods | Montgomery, Texas

Redwick’s Wedding in the Woods comes in at a very close second.

Just like The Shire, this venue is not only somewhere I would love to photograph — it would personally be my second choice if I were choosing a wedding venue for myself.

Apparently, there is a pretty obvious theme here.

Give me trees, greenery, a tucked-away ceremony space, and a wedding that feels like it is happening right in the middle of nature, and I am sold.

I love the idea of being able to photograph a wedding where the environment becomes part of the story. Instead of relying on just one designated portrait location, wooded venues give you so many opportunities to move around, find different lighting, and create images that feel completely different from one another.

Redwick’s has exactly the type of atmosphere I naturally gravitate toward both personally and as a photographer.

If At The Shire is number one for me, Wedding in the Woods is absolutely number two.

Brownstone Reserve | Bryan, Texas

Brownstone Reserve makes this list for a completely different reason.

While I obviously love wooded and nature-filled venues, I also love getting the opportunity to photograph weddings that have a more polished and elegant feel.

Brownstone Reserve has the kind of look that would allow me to create a really beautiful mix of classic wedding portraits, detail photos, wedding party images, and more relaxed moments throughout the day.

One of the things I look for in a venue as a photographer is variety.

I want to be able to walk twenty feet, change my angle, find different light, and suddenly create an entirely different photograph without making my couple travel all over the place.

Brownstone Reserve is definitely one of those venues I would love the chance to explore creatively during a full wedding day.

Peach Creek Ranch | College Station, Texas

Peach Creek Ranch has been on my radar because it combines so many things I love photographing.

It has that Texas feel without every photograph needing to look overly rustic, and there are plenty of outdoor areas where natural light and scenery can really become part of the gallery.

I especially love venues where couples can stay in one location for the majority of the day while still getting plenty of variety in their photos.

Getting ready, ceremony, family photos, wedding party portraits, couple portraits, reception — when all of those moments happen on one property, it gives me so much more time to focus on actually creating photographs rather than constantly traveling between locations.

Peach Creek Ranch is definitely a venue I would love to have on my calendar.

7F Lodge & Events | College Station, Texas

7F Lodge stands out to me because it has personality.

I love wedding venues that have their own recognizable style and give me opportunities to create photographs that feel specific to that couple’s wedding day.

As a photographer, one of my favorite things about working somewhere new is walking around before everything starts and looking for the spots other people might overlook.

Maybe it’s a patch of really pretty light.

Maybe it’s an unexpected angle.

Maybe it’s a tiny area of the property that ends up becoming the location for one of my favorite photographs of the entire day.

A venue with lots of character gives me more opportunities to do exactly that, which is why 7F Lodge earns a spot on this list.

Bluebird Haven Estates | Madisonville, Texas

Of course, I had to include a venue a little closer to my Madisonville-area couples.

Bluebird Haven Estates caught my attention because I love seeing beautiful wedding venues in the smaller communities surrounding Bryan–College Station.

You do not necessarily have to travel into a major city to find a beautiful location for your wedding.

As someone who photographs throughout the area, I love getting the chance to work at venues closer to home and showcase what our smaller communities have to offer.

Bluebird Haven is definitely somewhere I would love to photograph and explore during a wedding day.

Why Photographers Have Dream Venue Lists?

For me, a dream venue isn’t necessarily about how expensive it is or how popular it is.

It comes down to what I see when I look at the space.

Where is the light going to fall?

Where could I take my couple during golden hour?

What would bridal portraits look like here?

Where could I place the wedding party?

What area could give us something completely different from everything else in the gallery?

Every new venue gives me another opportunity to be creative.

And while I will happily photograph your wedding wherever you choose to celebrate, I definitely have a few places that would make me especially excited to see pop up in my inbox. There's even more than this list!
